Dear players,
Last night at about 03:15 am server time, Ragnagoats was the victim of a targeted attack that temporarily disconnected the server from our database. We were able to deal with the issue speedily and are pleased to announce that all your characters and data are safe.
However, those who were online at the time, excluding autotraders, got stuck in a loop where the server tried to reach the database in order to update player's inventories but got no response, thus sending further queries, until the database could finally be reached again, at which point all queries were resolved. This led to items being duplicated.
Thankfully, only a small number of players were affected, but this still means that there are now duplicated items in circulation. As such, we will be carrying out an emergency maintenance as soon as possible which allows us to manually remove any duplicated items in order to avoid a rollback. The emergency maintenance may take some time as we need to pour through the logs in order to find all items and remove them. Those of you who are affected can help us shorten that time significantly by deleting any duplicated items from your accounts.
We are currently unable to tell you when exactly this maintenance will take place as it relies on our Administrator, Walterion, to get off work early. Please check Discord for updates and announcements, we will let you know as soon as possible.
In order to better protect Ragnagoats and prevent further attacks in the future, we will also be adding more system resources to the database.
IMPORTANT: All of the duplicated items have unique IDs and are trackable. If during our investigation to remove duplicated items we find that a player tried to profit from this attack by, for example, selling duplicated items to other players, appropriate punishments will be handed out which can range from warnings to bans. If you hear about or see anyone who is attempting to barter duplicated items, please report this via our ticket system on Discord.

We have now finished with the emergency maintenance and the server is back online. We spent five hours pouring over logs, deleting duplicated items, and keeping meticulous logs of exactly what was deleted.
We are confident that we caught all duplicated items, but if, for some reason, you believe that you still have any or if you think that a normal item of yours was deleted by accident, please contact us via Discord by opening an Account Support ticket. As mentioned above, we kept logs of everything so restoring an item is definitely possible.
We have added additional measures to protect the server to prevent something like this from happening again as well. Again, thank you for being patient. Enjoy playing Ragnagoats!
